The ‘big questions’ for the Nashville Sounds as the 2010 season kicks off?
As the Nashville Sounds begin the 2010 Minor League baseball season, fans no doubt have some big questions in their minds. Some linger from activities from last year, and some are fresh.
Will Brendan Katin and Joe Koshansky have better production from the plate this year and improve their consistency? They both struck out a combined 330 times. Katin finished at .244 and Koshansky at .218 in 2009.
Will Adam Heether finally get the call to join the Brewers’ active roster in 2010? He had a stellar 2009 season with Nashville and earned a place on the Brewers’ 40-man roster in November.
Will the pitching be solid in 2010? Will new faces like Braddock, Estrada, Lofgren and Waters have an impact in 2010? How many Nashville pitchers will have 12 or more wins in 2010?
Will Mat Gamel, starting 3B for the Sounds in 2009, stay on the active roster for Milwaukee. Gamel opens the season on the 15-day DL with Milwaukee. A March 17th MRI revealed a “slightly torn latissimus dorsi”. He is listed as “out indefinitely”.
His lackluster performance at Milwaukee last season and his sub-par finish at Nashville in 2009 could find the 3B platooning back at Greer Stadium come June if his bat doesn’t find life in Milwaukee.
