Nashville keeps pace with Redbirds with 8-4 win over Bees

The Nashville Sounds kept pace tonight in the American North division of the PCL with an 8-4 victory (Cody – W, 6-6) over the Salt Lake Bees. They are just 1/2 game behind the front-running Redbirds who are enjoying a 4-game win streak.

The winning pitcher tonight was southpaw Chris Cody who even his season record to 6-6.

Heether, Gamel and Salome each had multi-RBI performances tonight.  Heether launched a two-run ninth inning blast (13) to left to make the score 8-3. He had 3 RBIs tonigh. Mat Gamel was 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Salome continued his solid hitting with 2 RBIs as well.

Reliever Chris Smith, who just returned to the Sounds after a strong stint with the parent Brewers, pitched in relief. He pitched 1.1 inning, yielding one hit (a homer), as he earned his 12th save.
