Heether’s versatility allows Patterson to get immediate playing time

August 4, 2009
The Nashville Sounds acquired (8/2) outfielder Corey Patterson from the Washington Nationals organization recently and thanks to Adam Heether’s versatility, Patterson will likely see immediate playing time.

Corey Patterson, Nashville Sounds

When Patterson joined the Sounds on 8/2 he was batting .274 (72-for-263) with 16 doubles, seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in 84 games with Triple-A Syracuse.

The Sounds could really use Corey’s bat right now.  The outfield today at Greer is likely to be Patterson in left, Bourgeois at center, and Katin at right.

That means that Heather will probably spend his time mostly at 2B but platooning occasionally at SS and 3B. If Iribarren comes back to Nashville, who is currently at Milwaukee, that could really put the squeeze on Heether’s playing time especially since Gamel has returned to Nashville (as of 7/21) and is still the starting third baseman.

Adam is having a very fine year for Nashville in his 7th season in professional baseball. He becomes a free-agent in 2010. Though his bat and confidence have slipped in the past couple weeks, he is still batting .290 with 11 homers and 36 RBIs.

Look for Nashville to possibly trade Heether before the 2010 season starts.

It’s getting to be ‘what cant this kid do..??’ 3B, SS, 2B, LF, RF…shoot, he even pitched a little this year. With Free Agency looming this year it puts a damper on my last month at Greer. Adam is one of the nice guys. We talk before most every game and he has handed me more then one of his broken bats. I wish him all the best in his career…
