How is former Sound’s Tony Gwynn doing with the Padres?

August 4, 2009

The Nashville Sounds traded outfielder Tony Gwynn on May 21st of this season. At the time he was the most consistent player on the team; batting .309, with nine RBIs, 34 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases.

Many people on the blogs and forums were saying that Gywnn Jr., did not have what it took to play at the ‘next’ level.  When Tony joined the Padres in late May he immediately started playing at the Big League level.

How has been doing? Dad is no doubt proud of junior.

In 65 games so far Tony Gwynn, Jr., is batting .292 (3rd best on the team) and has a .359 OBP (also 3rd best for team).

Sound’s fans this year certainly miss Tony Gwynn, Jr., but we have also grown quite fond of the likes of Adam Heether and now we’re starting to see a talented new face named Corey Patterson.

Thanks Kraig! I often think about Tony but don’t take the time to see how he’s doing.
