Cody pitches very well to run record to 5-6 in win over Isotopes
Lefty Chris Cody returned to his better form tonight against the Alburquerque Isotopes as the southpaw from Brewster, New York went seven innings, yielding just five hits and two runs to notch his fifth victory of the year. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate. The win kept the first-place Nashville Sounds (58-49) two games in front of second place division rivals Memphis Redbirds. Hot bats for the Sounds were Jason Bourgeois (3for-4) and Bill Hall (2-for-4).
Struggling Mat Gamel did not play tonight and Johnny Raburn played second base for former starter Hernan Iribarren who was just called up to the Milwaukee Brewers. Since Gamel has returned to Nashville – after playing almost 50 games for the Brewers – his batting average has plummeted about 40 points.
