Newcomer Johnny Raburn gets rare start over Escobar and delivers

July 11, 2009

The Nashville Sounds called up infielder Johnny Raburn on July 6th from Huntsville. The Florida-native got his first career AAA-Nashville-start tonight as Sound’s star shortstop Alcides Escobar sat the bench. Raburn made the most of his playing time tonight. He went 1-for-2 and scored the first run to tie the game 1-1.

In two games now, Raburn has 3 ABs with a triple (tonight). The 6-foot switch-hitter is just 30 year old and hails from Tampa, Florida. He was only batting .233 when he was called up from Huntsville July 6th. IN his ten seasons in the minors he has a .269 career average.
