Nashville wins 5-4 vs Isotopes in bottom of 9th
The Nashville Sounds (48-37) won an exciting one-run game against Albuquerque in the bottom of the ninth tonight at historic Greer Stadium. Erick Almonte provided the game-winning RBI-single heroics in the 5-4 win.
The Isotopes found the scoreboard first in the bottom of the 2nd. Jason Repko doubled (13) and later scored on an A.J. Ellis ground-out. 1-0 Isotopes.
Hernan Iribarren’s RBI ground out in the 3rd even the score. 1-1 tie. Nashville busted out in the 4th inning. Salome opened with a single to left. One out later Heether singled and moved Salome to 3rd. Brendan Katin then stepped to the plate and homered (19) [WATCH] to right center field on a shot that at first did not appear to be heading out. 4-1 Sounds.
Albuquerque came right back in the 5th. Tony Abreu hit a two-run homer (2) to left field making it 4-3 Sounds. The Isotopes tied it 4-4 in the 8th on a Luis Maza RBI-single.
With the score tied 4-4 in the ninth, the Isotopes did not score in their half and that set the stage for ninth-inning heroics by Erick Almonte for Nashville. Cole Gillespie opened with his 11th double of the year. Newcomer Freddy Parejo then laid down a perfect sac-bunt [WATCH] and was safe at first as the throw went to third but Gillespie was safe too.
