Gulin was pegged with his 4th loss in a quality start (archived photo).

Lindsay Gulin (L, 3-4) suffered his fourth loss tonight but turned in a quality performance as he went seven innings, yielded just four hits, on two runs, 2 earned, walking three and striking out five. He threw 108 pitches with 61 of them strikes.

Nashville was held to just five hits.  They were 0-for-5 with RISP.

The Sounds missed their opportunity in the 8th to plate runners. Gillespie led off with a single followed by a Maldonado walk. Garciaparra then laid down a sac-bunt advancing runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out. Bourgeois was then hit by the pitch to load the bases with just one out. Schmidt then got Escobar to fly out to CF. The Isotopes then brought in Erick Threets to face Iribarren, which he got striking out swinging to extinguish the threat.

Strickland earned his 13th save of the year, coming in the 9th inning and getting all three Sounds batters to strike out.
