Alcides Escobar named to XM All-Star Futures Game Roster

June 25, 2009

The Nashville Sounds have announced today:

Sounds shortstop Alcides Escobar has been named to the World roster for the 2009 XM All-Star Futures Game, which will be held on Sunday, July 12 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis as part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week.

The contest features many of the top Minor League prospects in baseball and will begin at 1:00 p.m. (CT) and can be viewed live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.TV.

Escobar, rated as the top prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers organization by Baseball America prior to this season, has enjoyed a stellar first season at the Class AAA level with Nashville in 2009.

The slick-fielding infielder is batting .298 (88-for-295) with a team-leading 54 runs scored and 27 stolen bases to go along with 19 doubles, four triples, three home runs, and 25 RBIs in 73 games played for the Sounds.

I have blogged on Escobar numerous times this year.
