Sounds lose second straight game in last at-bat vs RedHawks

For the second straight game in a row the Oklahoma City RedHawks plated the winning run in the final at-bat to defeat the Nashville Sounds; today by a score of 2-1. With the loss, the Sounds surrendered 3 out of 4 games to OKC for the series. All three RedHawk’s victories were achieved in the final at-bat.

Game summary:

The Sound’s took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd when Angel Salome led off with a double (13) followed by an RBI-single by Cole Gillespie.

The RedHawks tied it int he bottom of the 2nd with a lead-off double by Frostad (8) off starter Chase Wright. He would score later on a double-play ground-out.

The drama was set for the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the score tied 1-1. Arias led off with a single off reliever Matt Ginter. He advanced to 2B on a passed ball. Ginter then hit German with a pitch. The previous night’s hero, Max Ramirez, then stepped to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt. Ginter fielded the gunt and threw wildly to first, allowing Arias to score the winning run all the way from 2B.

Reliever Warner Madrigal (2-0) earned the in after working a scoreless ninth. Sound’s reliever Matt Ginter (2-2) suffered his second loss in an unearned fashion.

Starter Chase Wright turned in quality start for Nashville. He pitched 7 1/3rd innings, allowing just one run on six hits.
