Here are the Sounds of the Game hitting notes for June 20, 2009

  • Nashville’s .289 team average in June is 3rd-best among the 16 PCL clubs (Sacramento leads at .300).
  • Nashville designated hitters: Nashville is 15-16 when facing an American League affiliate this season. Sounds designated hitters are batting a cumulative .317 (33-for-104) with four home runs and 21 RBIs in those contests.
  • Outfielder Jason Bourgeois has produced multiple-hit efforts in nine of his last 12 contests and has hit safely in 13 es overall at a .439 clip (29-for-66). The speedster posted the PCL’s highest average last week at .520 (13-for-25), earning the circuit’s Player of the Week for the June 8-14 period.
  • Outfielder Brendan Katin has hit safely in 25 of his last 35 games at a .301 clip (43-for-143). The slugger has produced an extra-base hit in 17 of his last 30 tilts and ranks 2nd among all Pacific Coast League sluggers with 28 extra-base knocks this season. Katin is tied for 4th in the PCL with his 15 home runs and ranks 2nd with 61 RBIs, one off the league lead.
  • Infielder Adam Heether has been on fire at the plate since rejoining the Sounds in mid-May, hitting safely in 23 of 32 games (38-for-113, .336), including knocks in 13 of his last 17 tilts (24-for-61, .393).
  • Shortstop Alcides Escobar has been swinging a hot stick lately. The Milwaukee Brewers’ top prospect has hit safely in 27 of his last 35 contests at a .333 clip (47-for-141).
  • Catcher Angel Salome has recovered from a .191 April to hit .316 (36-for-114) over his last 35 contests.
