Sounds win game two in extra innings 3-1 to sweep Omaha
Game two today against Omaha could almost have not been more different than game one. The Nashville Sounds (33-26) defeated the Omaha Royals (24-34) by a thin score of 3-1 in the tenth inning, after the score was tied in the regular seventh 1-1.
The winning pitcher for Nashville was Ryan Houston (2-1) in relief, and the loser was Greg Atencio (2-5) for Omaha.
Nashville took the early lead in the first inning when Bourgeois opened with a triple (3) followed one out later by a Angel Salome RBI single to center. 1-0 Sounds.
Omaha tied in the fifth on an RBI double-play hit into by J.R. House. 1-1 tie.
The score remained tied 1-1 until the seventh inning ended for the night-cap sending the teams into extra innings. The score would remain tied until Nashville came to bat in the tenth when Michael Garciaparra led off the inning with his first home run of the season. It proved to be the winning run.
Nashville-starter Lindsay Gulin pitched extremely well today again. He went six innings, yielded just four hits, one run (unearned), walked three, struck-out one in the no-decision. Ryan Houston came in relief to pitch superbly too for the win, going four innings, two hits, no runs, two walks, one strike-out.
