Sounds hit dry-spell, lose to Omaha 7-1

The Nashville Sounds (31-26) lost to the Omaha Royals (24-32) last night in Omaha by a score of 7-1. Tim Dillard (L, 7-3) took the loss. Heath Phillips (W, 3-5) earned the victory.

For the second straight game the Sounds only scored one run. That is the lowest offensive production for two successive losses all year for Nashville. On Friday the Sounds only had two hits in a 2-1 loss to Iowa, but Saturday’s game did see Nashville banging out eight hits.

Travis Metcalf was 3 for 4 tonight, with 4 RBIs.

Nashville put the first and their only run of the game on the board in the first inning. Three straight singles, the final one by Heether, plated Bourgeois. 1-0 Sounds.

Omaha tied it right up in the bottom of the first with an RBI-double by by Hulett, scoring Falu who had walked. 1-1 tie.

The O-Royals broke it open in the 2nd. Metcalf’s 12th double of the season scored teammate Thorman who had singled to lead-off. 2-1 Omaha.  Mario Lisson’s 2-run home run (3) to center made it 4-1 Omaha after two.

Omaha had another big inning in the eighth. Travis Metcalf’s bases-loaded triple (2) made the final score 7-1.

Travis Metcalf was 3 for 4 (a single, double and triple) and hit 4 RBIs.
