Nashville Sounds: Brendan Katin’s power (two homers) leads Sounds to 6-2 victory over Royals in game one.

The Nashville Sounds (27-23) won their first game of the double header tonight over the Omaha Royals (22-27) by a score of 6-2. Matt Ginter (2-1) earned his second win. Ginter pitched solidly, going 5 innings, yielding just 3 hits and two runs. Chris Narveson earned his 5th save in the victory.

Game summary:

Omaha got on the board first (2nd inning) by plating two runners on a two-out 2-RBI triple by Mario Lisson. 2-0 Royals. The Sounds came back in the 2nd on a Brendan Katin homer (7) to left field. [I retrieved that ball and got Katin to sign it later.]  2-1 Royals.

The Sounds tied the game in the 4th on a solo shot (4) by Adam Heether to left. An RBI double (10) by Alcides Escobar in the 5th scored teammmate Chris Duffy with what would be the eventual winning run.  3-2 Sounds.

Nashville exploded for a big inning in the 6th. The first run came on another homer (8) by Brendan Katin to left. Jason Bourgeois later doubled (5) home two mates to make the score 6-2 Nashville.

Brendan Katin: 2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 HRs, 2 RBIs

Jason Bourgeois: 2 for 2, 2 RBIs
