May 12, 2009

The Nashville Sounds (17-15) start a four-game home stand series against the Reno Aces (13-18) tonight at Greer Stadium (7pm CST).  This will be the only series the two teams will play this year.

Nashville has just come off a road series where they posted a modest 5-4 record. Six of the nine contests were decided by two runs or less. The Sounds have 6 of their last 10.

The Reno Aces (13-18) are bringing a four-game skid streak to Greer tonight. Reno is the newly branded team of the Triple-A affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks (previously the Tuscon Sidewinders).

The Sounds will send starter Mike Burns (4.0, 2.63) to the mound while Reno will counter with Billy Bucker (1-1, 5.29).

Burns’ most recent performance resulted in a 4-2 decision against the I-Cubs on May 7th.

The Reno Aces are managed by former Major Leaguer Brett Butler. The Aces have a brand new $50 million dollar ballpark they started play in for the first time April 9th this year. The Aces sport a fantastic team batting average of .300 (second-best inthe PCL). Their top hitters are Josh Whitesell, John Hester and Alex Romero.
