Mat Gamel leads Sounds in several categories

Third baseman Mat Gamel (#6) leads the Nashville Sounds in several offensive categories so far (through first eleven games) in 2009. Gamel is also one of the best players in the Pacific Coast League (PCL).

He leads The Nashville Sounds in the following categories:

Runs – 11 (4th in PCL)

Hits – 17 (3rd in PCL)

Doubles – 6 (1st in PCL)

HRs – 3 (Five tied for 4th in PCL

RBIs – 14 (3rd in PCL)TB – 32 (2nd in PCL)

OBP – .489 * (Corporan is higher but only in 4 games)

SLG – .821 (2nd in PCL)

Ave – .436 (3rd in PCL)

OPS – 1.310 (2nd in PCL)

He also leads the team in errors so far, with five.

The only player in the PCL having a hotter offensive year than Gamel right now is Jake Fox with Iowa.
