Nashville shuts down the Red Hawks in 7-1 victory

April 15, 2009

It was tax day. Ugghh.  But thanks to some fine ball play from the Nashville Sounds tonight I temporarily forgot about how much of my paycheck goes to Uncle Obama.

Sounds Baseball by you.

Brandon Katin provided some heavy lumber for the Sounds (2 -4, HR 4 RBIs) in the Sound's third victory of the 2009 season against the Red Hawks.

Tonight’s victory was the finest effort the Sounds notched this season so far (3-4).

The victory was simple to diagram.

Start with great pitching compliments of Mike Burns (1-0).  Throw in an errorless game, and mix in some strong hitting and the result is a 7-1 victory against the Oklahoma Red Hawks.

The night’s most exciting action came when Brendan Katin of Nashville hit a towering solo home run over the guitar score board in the first inning. It was his first HR of the season.

Primary offensive fire power was served up by Katin (2-4, 4 RBIs) and Angel Salome (2-2).  Six Sounds players had one hit each as Nashville managed a ten hit night in their 7-1 victory.

Pitcher R.J. Swindle got his first save of the season in a fine relief performance in which he fanned seven Red Hawk’s batters.
