Third baseman Mat Gamel (#6) went 4-5, scored 3 runs, and posted four RBIs in the Sound’s (1-1)  first victory of the 2009 season tonight. Nashville scored all ten runs by the bottom of the 5th inning when they were leading 10-4 as the 6th inning began.

The pitchers of record were Gulin (1-0) in relief for Nashville, and Sinkbeil(L, 0-1) who started for New Orleans.

The Sounds were 6 for 16 with runners in scoring position but left seven men on base. All of the Nashville players – except the pitcher(s) – notched hits in the game.

Erick Almonte and Angel Salome both knocked in two runs in the Nashville win.

A crowd of 1,471 in attendance watched the game under cloudy and overcast skies in the mid 50s.
