Katin slams two home runs in 5-2 Sound’s victory

The Nashville Sounds won their fourth game in a row tonight at Greer behind the solid pitching of starter Joshua Butler and relief provided by Narveson and Johnson to hoist their record to 31-24. Iowa dropped to 26-29. Jeff Samardzija (2-2) took the loss [Watch him warming up].
Most of tonight’s fire-power came from Nashville’s Brendan Katin again who launched two round-trippers knocking in three runs, going 2 for 4.
Newly promoted Joshua Butler started tonight and pitched solidly, going four innings, yielding seven hits, just two runs, and striking out six. He figured in a no-decision. Chris Narveson (W, 2-3), in a middle reliever role, earned the victory as he pitched superbly in four complete innings, yielding just one hit and nor runs, striking out two. [Watch him warm-up].
Dave Johnson worked the ninth and earned his 2nd save of the year.
Game summary
Butler started out with some butterflies and yielded a run in the first on a Doug Deeds single, scoring Fuld. [WATCH] 1-0 Iowa. Kyle Reynold’s solo-home run to right, careening of the top of the fence, made it 2-0 Iowa in the fourth.
Nashville plated two in the bottom of the fourth. Heether led of with an infield single to third. Cole Gillespie followed with a double to left moving Heether to 3B. Corporan then struck out swinging. One out.
Erick Almonte then pinched hit for Butler with an RBI single to center scoring Heether [WATCH]. 2-1 Iowa. Jason Bourgeois followed with his own RBI-single to center scoring Gillespie [WATCH]. 2-2 tie.
The Sounds took the lead permanently in the 5th inning. Koshansky walked and Brendan Katin hit a blast (11) over the left field wall [WATCH - Listen]. 4-2 Sounds.
Katin was not finished though. He came up in the 7th with one out and blasted another long-ball (12) to center field [WATCH]. 5-2 Sounds, final score.
Iowa-starter Jeff Samardzja (2-2) was pegged with this second loss of the season.
